GRIEF

Respect for life involves the recognition of human dignity at every stage. Issues surrounding the end of life include artificial nutrition and hydration, euthanasia, assisted suicide, organ donation, palliative care, the completion of an advanced directive, and many other topics.

Serves as a non-denominational Christ-centered grief recovery group for those who have experienced the death of someone dear to them. Whether the death is recent or from years past, GriefShare can offer comfort, support, and encouragement. Each of the 13 sessions features a DVD presentation with some of the country’s leading grief recovery experts and real-life stories of people who have lost a loved one. Additional discussion and sharing occur in a supportive and understanding Christian group environment. Fall and Winter sessions are held on Friday mornings at 9:30 am. Each session is self-contained so that a person may begin at any time. The group meets in Room 101 of the Faith Formation building. A Surviving The Holidays one-time meeting is in November, usually the week before Thanksgiving. Volunteers may serve as group facilitators and/or subs and provide room set up, hospitality (snacks), supply cabinet re-stocking, participant supplies, and care team communication with participants.

It brings God’s healing love into the lives of people going through a difficult time. The challenge may be grieving the loss of a loved one, coping with a medical diagnosis, going through a divorce, battling a chronic illness, or experiencing high stress or loneliness. Our time with you is confidential, one-on-one care to listen, support, encourage, and pray for God’s guidance. Please contact us if you or someone you know could benefit from the care of a Stephen Minister, if you are interested in becoming a Stephen Minister, or if you have questions about the ministry.
